“Everything changes and nothing remains still… and … you cannot step twice into the same stream.” – Heraclitus This constant unfolding of reality was the backbone of Heraclitus’s philsophical concepts, which inform this dance. Divenire represents change, movement and the endless scroll of reality. Even what seems static to sensory perception is, in truth, dynamic and constantly changing. This piece is comprised of three movements; White Cloud, In Another Life and Divenire, meaning ‘to become.’ The Melbourne Ballet Company consists of a team of 10 world-class dancers including highly esteemed artists who have been members of major ballet companies from around the world. Divenire is a striking program of precision and impressive athleticism created by Resident Choreographer Simon Hoy and featuring a duo by recognised dance-maker Tim Podesta. While acknowledging the beauty of classical ballet and works driven by a narrative or message, this program also pushes the boundaries of the genre and shows the great strength and versatility that Melbourne Ballet Company has become known for. This program sets out to offer something for everyone and we are very proud to be presenting this wonderful season as part of our touring schedule.
