The Vow
Handel in the Theatre presents
The Vow

8 Oct 2016 to 9 Oct 2016

A victory won. A price to be paid.

Award-winning singer/director Tobias Cole presents his fourth Handel production in the Canberra Playhouse – the first for his new professional opera company, Handel in the Theatre.

A desperate leader asks for help to defeat his enemies, promising to make a sacrifice in exchange. Victorious, he returns home to discover the true price that will be demanded of him.

Based on Handel’s final masterpiece Jephtha, The Vow explores the dangers of bargaining with power. You’ll be seduced by Handel’s music, shattered by Jephtha’s dilemma, and left wondering what you would have done in his place …

Featuring some of Australia’s best operatic storytellers, baroque musicians, and innovative designers.

This is baroque opera as Handel would have presented it, had he been working in the twenty-first century.
