A Pacifists Guide to the War on Cancer

28 Feb 2018 to 3 Mar 2018

“A VITAL CONFRONTATION, EXTRAORDINARY” The Observer

Bryony Kimmings wants to talk about cancer but she’s not getting very far. Instead, she keeps hearing about battles, survivors, fun runs and new leases of life. What’s everyone so scared of? Kimmings’ latest highly acclaimed collaboration with Complicité will blow everything you think you know about cancer out of the water. This funny and moving show will look behind the poster campaigns and pink ribbons at the reality of cancer: newfound friendships, pain and death, mundane treatment cycles, hairlessness and scars… with songs.

Expect big anthems, colourful costumes, blood, tears and real cancer patients in this rip-roaring, heartbreaking celebration of ordinary life and death. This is unexpected and confronting theatre – it scratches at the battle metaphors that surround cancer to reveal what really lies beneath.
