Biography
Described by critics as 'The most exciting voice since Joan Sutherland', Australian born Helena Dix has secured her name on the operatic stages all around the world. Helena's recent operatic engagements include the title role in Feroni's CRISTINA REGINA DI SVEZIA for Wexford Festival Opera, Oldenburg Staatstheater and Chelsea Opera Group, Elettra IDOMENEO and Odabella ATTILA for Staatstheater Nürnberg and Lubeck opera, the title-role LA GIOCONDA for Teatro Calderón, Valladolid, Flowermaiden PARSIFAL for English National Opera and the title-role IRIS, Rosalinde DIE FLEDERMAUS and Hanna Glawari THE MERRY WIDOW for Scottish Opera.
Her concert engagements include: Rossini Petite Messe Solennelle Mozart Coronation Mass in C, Requiem and Mass in C Minor, Richard Strauss Four Last Songs, Mahler Rückert Lieder, Mendelssohn Elijah, Beethoven 9th Symphony, Mozart Exsultate Jubilate, Faure Requiem, Britten War Requiem and Haydn Creation,
Helena works regularly at The Metropolitan Opera where she has covered the roles of Elvira ERNANI, Elisabetta ROBERTO DEVEREUX, Elettra IDOMENEO, the title-role SEMIRAMIDE, Vitellia LA CLEMENZA DI TITO and the title-role NORMA. In 2019 Helena made her Metropolitan Opera stage-debut as Alice Ford FALSTAFF.
In her native Australia, Helena's recent engagements have included Elsa LOHENGRIN and Elisabetta ROBERTO DEVEREUX for Melbourne Opera, Verdi Requiem at the Melbourne Town Hall and the title-role NORMA for Melbourne opera.
Engagements elsewhere have included the title role ARIADNE AUF NAXOS for Longborough Festival Opera, the title-role NORMA with Chelsea Opera Group and Elisabetta ROBERTO DEVEREUX for Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe. Helena also made her commercial recording debut with the Missa Sabrenesis by Howells with the BBC Concert orchestra and The Bach choir which was released on Hyperion records in May 2020.
Helena's upcoming engagements include Lady Macbeth MACBETH for Melbourne Opera, Carmina Burana at the Royal Albert Hall, Elisabetta ROBERTO DEVEREUX for Chelsea Opera Group and her company debut with Seattle Opera.
