West Side Story
Andrew was born and raised in the tiny rural town of Wee Waa in NSW. Along with an assortment of teachers, he learnt piano and singing from his parents, and also inherited their passion for musical theatre. Andrew has also dabbled with a host of other instruments, including bassoon, French horn, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, guitar and viola. His first experiences on the stage involved chorus and minor leads in Anything Goes (2003), My Fair Lady (2005), Oklahoma! (2007) and The Pirates of Penzance (2007). He became interested in working in theatre and in 2011 he was repetiteur for Alice in Wonderland at the Brisbane Arts Theatre. He has worked on and off stage with QMT, first as Perchik in Fiddler on the Roof (2011) and then as Musical Director for Oliver! (2012).
Andrew has the choir bug; since 2004, he has performed with various choirs in some of the most notable venues in the world, including the Lincoln Centre, Salisbury Cathedral, Bremen's Sendesaal, and the Sydney Opera House. Last year he toured internationally with The Australian Voices, performing in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, China, Germany, and touring the UK and Ireland as substitute Musical Director. He is currently the Conductor in Training for The Australian Voices. Andrew dedicates his work on West Side Story to the incredible cast, crew and production team, and to his cat Bubbles, who sadly no longer acts as his conducting muse.
