Pulitzer Prize winning playwright (2014 The Flick), Annie Baker’s play, The Aliens, arrives for its Sydney premiere.

“A GENTLE AND EXTRAORDINARILY BEAUTIFUL NEW PLAY”- NEW YORK TIMES

In the grubby backyard of a coffee shop in small-town Vermont, two professional slackers discuss music, the poetry of Charles Bukowski and ex-girlfriends. And sing songs. When a teenage employee asks them to relocate, they find the disciple they’ve been waiting for.
Beneath an unassuming surface, The Aliens has mighty subjects at its heart- no less than life, death, love and art. With tender empathy and offbeat humour, the play examines the stuff of life itself - the ties that bind and break us to our fellow human being.

Craig Baldwin will direct in his anticipated return to Australia since moving to New York in 1998. Craig was the first Australian to train in the Juilliard acting program and, alongside performing, has also gone on to establish himself as a renowned director.
This beat-tinged, psychotropic journey will be brought to life by Ben Wood (Redfern Now, Ghost Stories, Rupert)alongside Jeremy Waters, (Four Places, Lobby Hero, Jerusalem) and James Bell (Billy in Warhorse, STC’s Children of the SunSound of Music).

After producing last year’s critically acclaimed, Four Places, Outhouse Theatre Co is excited to bring this Obie- winning play to Sydney audiences.

"Annie Baker is the most talented American playwright of her generation. No question." CameronWoodhead, The Age
