KAYAK

29 Mar 2016 to 9 Apr 2016

“TIDES FLUSH EVERYTHING OUT. EVEN CRAZY CHICKS LIKE YOU”

In Sydney playwright Katherine Thomson’s “Kayak”, all Ruth wants to do is be out on the harbour with her kayak and enjoy the quiet. She’s in Heaven. “I'm nestled in the meniscus, as secure as a duck.”

Just as Ruth gets lost in the serenity, her floating universe is destroyed by a perilous encounter with teenage hoons in a tinnie. Ruth seeks revenge and tracks down Luke and his guardian, Wen. A battle for moral high ground ensues as tables are turned over and over again, until everyone realizes just how deep in they are. This is a fast-moving thriller with a strong comic undertow.

Cross Pollinate Productions present KAYAK by Katherine Thomson (Diving for Pearls, Harbour, Halifax fp) from 29th March – 9th April as part of the Late Night Shows at the Old Fitzroy Hotel presented by Poor Toms Gin. Directed by Adam Cook (A Steady Rain, The Motherf*cker With The Hat) and featuring Matilda Ridgway (Jasper Jones - Belvoir, Hamlet – Bell Shakespeare), Francesca Savige (All’s Well That Ends Well, A Doll’s House – Sport For Jove), and Matthew Cheetham (2015 Actors Centre Australia graduate).
