Coffs Harbour Musical Comedy Company's second show of the year will be Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 1949 musical South Pacific.
A lighthearted musical with serious themes playing under the rhythms of some of the most wonderful standards in the American Songbook.
The story is based on the Pulitzer-Prize-winning novel by James A. Michener, Tales of the South Pacific, which dealt largely with the issue of racism.
It is considered by most critics to be among the greatest musicals of the twentieth century. Well-known songs include “Some Enchanted Evening," "I'm Gonna Wash That Man Right Outta My Hair," and "Happy Talk”. The original Broadway production won ten Tony Awards and inspired a 1958 film adaptation.
Directed by Judi Williams.
