There have been many moments in our history where the classic narrative of George Orwell’s Animal Farm has resonated, but the current global climate makes this interpretation of Peter Hall’s adaptation an even more poignant choice for performance. First published in 1954 to satirise the Russian Revolution and Stalinist era, Hall’s adaptation brings the story into the imagination of children, where the darker undertones of politics and power counter the innocence of those telling the story. The schoolyard themes…. Not only have the students from Canberra High School decided to use this show as the school’s first major theatre production in over 20 years, but even Hollywood knows it’s timely and is turning it into a film due to be released later this year!
This show will be performed at Hawker College’s Murranji Theatre, utilising the skills of Live Production & Services students and strengthening the relationship between our schools.
