Carolyn Eccles
ACT, Canberra
Carolyn Eccles is a performer and arts educator currently living on the land of the Ngunnawal and Ngambri peoples. Originally trained as a Director with Zen Zen Zo Physical Theatre Company, she continued to explore her interest in movement studies and specifically the Suzuki method with the SITI Company (New York), Contact Improvisation with Strings Attached and the Grotowski method with Stephen Wangh. She studied Meisner with Scott Williams, ashtanga yoga with BodyMindLife and Indian dance and storytelling in the Uttrakhand region of Northern India. For 5 years she toured 7 solo and company shows nationally as a theatre in education and festival performer before coming to Canberra. She continues to perform as an associate artist of physical theatre company Lingua Franca, is one half of the visual arts practice darkroom and is currently participating in the Canberra-based Cahoots program. In 2015 she completed a Graduate Ceritficate in Arts & Community Engagement at VCA with a focus on physical theatre practice in regional areas.
