Brooke Thomas
NSW
Brooke Thomas joins the creative team of The Penelopiad as choreographer on the basis that she can teach anyone to dance - a useful thing for a cast that wasn't expecting to be doing quite so much dancing!
While not her dayjob, her dance resume includes 15 years as a bellydance performer, choreographer and teacher, and organiser and instructor for the Canberra leg of the annual global community dance event, The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.
She is grateful for the creative, collaborative spirit of the cast in being willing to explore a mix of bellydance moves, sea shanties, interpretive dance, and school yard rope games, and has felt privileged to watch these talented women take her dance concepts to a powerfully emotive level, expressing variously anger, cheekiness, sadness, bewilderment, and longing. It's been a challenging and rewarding experience and she can't wait to see the final production on stage.
