David Harmon
ACT
A director, writer and producer of theatre and film, David Harmon started his career directing and writing a number of productions while studying at Sydney University.
In 2008 he was invited to study a postgraduate diploma of Directing in the NIDA full time directing course. While there he assisted directors such as Jim Sharman and David Berthold and as part of his coursework developed and collaborated in performances in Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane.
In 2009 he received an Australia Council Emerging Artist grant to be seconded to three Opera Australia productions. David returned to Opera Australia the following year as Resident Director of the Sydney season of Night Music.
In 2011 he directed a bold new production of Sam Shepard's rock & roll epic The Tooth of Crime as part of the ATYP Under the Wharf program. He also directed international comedy group The Axis of Awesome in their Sydney Opera House debut Songs in the Key of Awesome.
Since 2011, David has worked as associate producer of Australian production house Sunday Pictures with director Jim Sharman which last year produced a new work by Sharman and writer Stephen Sewell: ANDY X.
In 2013 David directed Spoiler Alert: Everybody Dies, an original musical comedy revue for the Sydney Comedy Festival.
