Company O was founded in 2012 when a group of actors got together to create independent theatre. Not intending to give themselves a name, they were forced to come up with one in order to register their first production at small theatre in Sydney. ‘Company O’ was the result of a choice made under pressure and the name has stuck! ‘O’ for the surname of the founder, ‘O’ for Oscar Wilde - the author of the first play they produced - and ‘O', the circle, symbolising unity. We’re interested in new writing and insightful interpretations of the classics!
