The Rocky Monster Show
Pristine Entertainment presents
The Rocky Monster Show

19 Jun 2015 to 21 Jun 2015

A MUSICAL spoof of popular horror shows is set to cast a spell with its all-singing, all-dancing mix of bizarre comedy this June.

Presented by Pristine Entertainment at the Carine Senior High School Performing Arts Centre, The Rocky Monster Show is a witch’s brew of Young Frankenstein, Phantom of the Opera, Rebecca, The Addams Family, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Little Shop of Horrors.

The in-bred villagers of Arkham are not happy with goings-on at a nearby creepy castle – Dr Frankenstein’s descendant Professor Fenton is creating DNA moulds of people in his computer.

“He was a rock star badly injured in a tour bus crash and wears a mask like the Phantom,” director Alida Chaney said.

“His DNA moulds come to life as the ultimate rock group, headed by a clone of Elvis Presley.

The Rocky Monster Show has a huge cast with the majority of them children so it’s all a question of trying to stage all the acting parts, oversee the dancing and singing and then bring it all together to make an entertaining show.”

First stepping on the stage in the UK as an 11-year-old in Oliver, Chaney has a wealth of stage credits to her name and has performed with a variety of theatres including Limelight, Playlovers, Garrick and Stirling Theatres since arriving in Perth 17 years ago.

Her productions of Blood Bothers, Lost in Yonkers and The Rink have received a variety of awards and nominations while she was also named best female supporting actor for her role in Sordid Lives at the annual Plover Awards.

Last year, Chaney scored six awards for The Broken Slipper at Dramafest, the annual state drama festival, including best director and best production and later staged it as a successful double-bill with A Piece of Cake at Fringe World.

“I’ve been involved with The Rocky Monster Show before with Perth Youth Theatre and I remembered it being lots of fun,” she said.

“When Pristine Entertainment principal Chris Fillis asked if I would consider directing her next production, I thought it would be a good suggestion.”

The Rocky Monster Show plays at 7.30pm June 19 and 20 and 2pm June 20 and 21. Tickets are $25, $20 concession – book on 0419 246 122.

The Carine Senior High School Performing Arts Centre is on Osmaston Road, Carine.
