Darlinghurst Theatre Company presents
SAVAGES
By Patricia Cornelius
Four mates board a cruise ship for the trip of a lifetime. They’re badly in need of a break and determined to leave life’s baggage behind. In their pursuit of good times and freedom, they begin to spin out of control. What is lurking in each of them ... is it something savage?
Patricia Cornelius is one of Australia’s most awarded playwrights but her work is often overlooked for being controversial and confronting. Darlinghurst Theatre Company is proudly presenting the Sydney premiere of Savages. Inspired by true events, Savages is a searing investigation into Australian masculinity and misogyny.
Artistic Director of Playwriting Australia Tim Roseman is thrilled to be directing this highly topical and multi-award-winning play. “Every now and again a play comes along that is so electrifying, so visceral, so white-knuckle you know it must be put on a stage immediately. Patricia has the power to make words dance, fight and sing, and it’s genuinely enthralling.”
