A Doll's House, Part 2
Melbourne Theatre Company presents
A Doll's House, Part 2

11 Aug 2018 to 15 Sep 2018

In 1879, Nora Helmer handed her husband her keys and wedding ring and left home, slamming the door behind her. But what ever happened to this famous literary figure from Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll’s House? And what of the family she left behind? 15 years later, Nora is now a successful feminist writer returning to get the divorce her husband Torvald never filed for. All she needs is the paperwork.

US playwright Lucas Hnath has written a brilliant contemporary classic, continuing Nora’s story in an intriguing play with a decidedly modern perspective. The audaciously titled A Doll’s House, Part 2 is a Tony Award-winning drama about family, responsibility and freedom of choice. Whether you’re familiar with A Doll’s House or not, this Broadway smash-hit will have you seeing its themes of equality and relationships with fresh eyes.

MTC Associate Director Sarah Goodes directs an outstanding cast, with one of the most popular actors in Australia today, Marta Dusseldorp (Janet KingA Place to Call Home), returning to her Melbourne theatre roots for the first time in over a decade in this expertly crafted and very funny ‘sequel of sorts’.
