Expect to revise any preconceived notions you have about classical music when internationally acclaimed Steinway Artist Julian Gargiulo makes his Queanbeyan debut, direct from Carnegie Hall!
The man with the fro-like mane wanted to be a rock star when he was a kid but he grew up to become a classical pianist instead. But, as he says, his hair kept dreaming.
Described as “Saturday Night Live with a piano” and “a marvellous non-stop flow of pure Woody Allen-sih wit”, the Italian-American performer will hold you spellbound as he takes you through a stunning program including Debussy and Rimsky-Koraskov, but not forgetting the usual suspects Beethoven and Chopin in-between sharing his life stories and experiences from stages all around the world.
Combining rigorous Russian conservatory training with an informal style of presenting classical music, Julian has been receiving standing ovations on both sides of the Atlantic and is not to be missed. You may even find him helping you to your seat before the show!
“He’s the only classical musician I know who could truly be regarded as a rock star as well. One of the most enjoyable concerts I have ever been to. He had us all in the palm of his hand. He’s the sort of performer who could change a young person’s life and inspire them to start on the path to a career in music.” – COURIER MAIL
