No Ball Games Allowed

31 Mar 2022 to 9 Apr 2022

‘And I’ve been jumping ever since.’

London, the Blitz 1941. A young woman is attacked amongst the rubble. What happens when a daughter and a lost soul reunite to piece together the events that have repeatedly split their family apart.

NO BALL GAMES ALLOWED explores the world near the bottom of a series of high rise towers, a world where a young woman disappears and her life is remembered, a life of moments and opportunities that were never fully grasped, that could have been different.

Kristen Smyth's new post-dramatic play speaks to regret and family trauma, and encourages us to examine our true selves, and ask how much do we really know of our loved ones and their inner lives?

Under the direction of Kitan Petkovski (THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JESUS, QUEEN OF HEAVEN), Smyth’s poetic text is supported by a cinematic backdrop of original film and an epic score composed and played live by Robert Downie and Rachel Lewindon.

This project has been supported by the City of Port Phillip through Cultural Development Fund.

"Kristen Smyth is astonishing in the lead role, float through each moment and phrase with grace and poise. Smyth has such an innate connection to the work and world, that the audience feels held in the arms of a caring friend or loved one."
