Jacqui Richards
ACT
Dance has played a large part in Jacquelyn's life as she began her ballet training on the day she turned four years old.
She studied, taught and performed in dance initially through British Ballet Australasia (classical, modern, jazz, character, tap) for nearly 20 years. She completed her MBBAO in classical ballet and ODTS in tap dancing.
In the latter years she trained with, and danced for, Graeme Murphy at the Sydney Dance Company. During this time she was privileged to work with a number of exceptional dancers and choreographers.
For a variety of reasons, Jacquelyn's career turned to business and she studied and then worked as management consultant for the next decade. After moving to Canberra she returned to dance as a choreographer in 2005.
Over the past eight years Jacquelyn has choreographed more than a dozen Canberra musicals. These have included The Boyfriend, The Buddy Holly Story, Wedding Singer, Chess, Fame, Blood Brothers, Titanic, the Musical and Guys & Dolls.
During this time she won the Canberra Area Theatre Award for Best Choreographer for Buddy and the Critics Award for outstanding choreography in Fame. In 2012 she was invited by Bryce Courtenay to present a movement module as part of his final writing Masterclass which is currently being produced as a documentary.
