Annie Get Your Gun
Queanbeyan Players Inc presents
Annie Get Your Gun

1 Nov 2013 to 16 Nov 2013

Annie Get Your Gun scored a bull’s eye when it returned to Broadway in 1999 sporting a revised libretto by Emmy winner, Peter Stone.  Stone reshaped the 1946 book to create a Wild West show-within-a-show which the frames the ageless “Anything You Can Do I Can Do Better” love story of sharpshooters Annie Oakley and Frank Butler.  Stone has added a secondary romance between the younger sister of Frank’s bothersome assistant Dolly, and a boy who is, to Dolly’s horror, part Native American giving two characters additional focus and singing roles.  Of course the music is Irving Berlin’s score, featuring hit after hit in Irving Berlin’s greatest achievement in theatre.

Cast Anita Davenport
Annie Oakley
Anita started performing onstage over 19 years ago and hasn't really stopped since! Over the past few years she's appeared in a range of musicals and plays with just about every company in Canberra. She's pined after Darcy as Miss Bingley in Rep's Pride and Prejudice, taught young hooligans in Free Rain's Grease and gone a little biblical as Mary Magdelene in the Bay Players Jesus Christ Superstar. On the side she also designs and constructs sets with her fiancé Steve, the most recent being a newspaper inspired Annie set for Phoenix Players. She's been having a blast playing the woodsy gun-slinging Annie in this proper old-fashioned show and would like to thank the team at Queanbeyan Players, her singing teacher Jenni Reeves and her show widower Steve for all their support. more ...
