Miriam wasn't familiar with Sunset Boulevard until the about a year ago but since then has fallen in love with the surprisingly complex orchestration, sung harmonies and heart-wrenching story of what is now one of her top five musicals. She found the music so enjoyable to learn as it presented such a challenge for her - not just the highly textural chorus sections (listen out for "Let's Have Lunch"...well done to our MD Sharon...what a superstar) but as understudy for Norma it was a brilliant emotional journey. It is always fantastic for an alto to have the lead role!
Having completed a Bachelor in Classical Voice at the Canberra School of Music in her early 20s, Miriam has performed in a wide variety of operas, recitals, plays and musicals around the Canberra region. Some of her favourite roles she has played over the years were Prince Orlofsky in Die Fledermaus with the George Limb Opera Company, Katisha in The Mikado with Philo and recently Angela in the debut performance of The Rokitelly Man (funnily enough all of them had really fun costumes...maybe a theme?). Having taken a couple of years off until recently to hide backstage and dress the super talented (and highly attractive) actors of Canberra, she hopes to see you from the stage very soon...you wonderful people in the dark.
