Everyman Theatre was formed in 2007, and since then we have been bringing Canberra audiences high quality productions that challenge, inspire, and above all entertain. Our motto has and always will be that "Every man has a story..."
Company Overview
Everyman Theatre is Canberra’s premier pro-am theatre company, having won multiple coveted Canberra Critics Circle Awards during its five year existence. The company’s critically-acclaimed productions cross many theatrical genres, whilst maintaining an interest in the artistic exploration of masculinity and men’s issues: from cabaret (Singer, Dancer, Actor) to Shakespeare (Richard III); from American documentary theatre (The Laramie Project) to new Australian works (the STC Patrick White Playwright’s Award shortlisted The Ides of March); from the sublime (Someone Who’ll Watch Over Me) to the absurd (Latin! Or Tobacco and Boys) and the hysterical musical (The Musical of Musicals: The Musical).
Everyman Theatre has conducted a series of theatrical and scholastic workshops in schools and for other theatre groups, itself comprising of three of Canberra’s most experienced theatrical practitioners, Duncan Driver (PhD English, Film and Theatre Studies), Duncan Ley (BA Hons. Film and English, and award-winning playwright), and Jarrad West (WAAPA graduate and puppeteer).
